Olazabal Foundation
The Olazabal Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Olazabal family’s institutions and serves as the humanitarian extension of the Olazabal Medical Group. Established to expand access to healthcare and education, the foundation supports medical outreach missions, scholarship programs, and rural healthcare initiatives across the Philippines.
Guided by Emilio Olazabal and Milagros Olazabal, the foundation operates with the belief that medical expertise and institutional privilege carry a responsibility to serve communities where healthcare services remain limited. Through its partnerships with hospitals, universities, and volunteer medical teams, the Olazabal Foundation has helped bring essential care to remote and underserved areas.
Many of the foundation’s programs focus on mobile medical missions that deliver doctors, equipment, and supplies to communities that cannot easily access major hospitals. These missions often include emergency relief efforts following natural disasters, as well as long-term healthcare programs designed to support rural clinics.
The foundation also maintains a scholarship program that supports promising students whose academic potential might otherwise be limited by financial circumstances. Through these scholarships, the Olazabals have helped support future doctors, nurses, researchers, and scholars.
One of the most defining moments in the history of the foundation came through tragedy.
During one of its humanitarian missions, two physicians involved in delivering medical supplies to a remote community—both members of the Olazabal family—died in a Cessna aircraft accident while attempting to reach the area in time to provide assistance.
The loss deeply affected the Olazabal family, particularly Emilio and Milagros Olazabal, who later became the guardians of their granddaughter Diana Olazabal.
Rather than ending the work their children had devoted their lives to, the family chose to continue and expand the mission. The Olazabal Foundation strengthened its rural healthcare initiatives and humanitarian outreach programs, ensuring that the work would continue for future generations.
Over time, the foundation also became known for supporting young individuals with exceptional promise. Among those supported through its educational initiatives is Stella, whose academic potential and artistic sensitivity impressed the family enough for the foundation to offer her a scholarship grant to support her education.
Today, the Olazabal Foundation remains one of the most respected philanthropic institutions connected to Manila’s historic families. Through its medical missions, scholarships, and humanitarian initiatives, it continues to reflect the values that have long defined the Olazabal legacy: service, responsibility, and quiet dedication to communities in need.
