The Bluedemic — The Quiet Era That Changed Big Blue
The Bluedemic refers to the long emotional era believed to have permanently changed the surface of Big Blue.
According to historical records, oral stories, and surviving Blooming archives, the Bluedemic began gradually rather than suddenly. There was no official start date, no single disaster, and no known cause agreed upon by historians.
Instead, many residents of Big Blue slowly began experiencing a growing emotional heaviness that spread quietly across the planet over time.
People became more uncertain.
More disconnected.
More emotionally tired.
Communities that once gathered often became quieter. Many people reportedly lost their sense of direction, delight, courage, and emotional closeness. During this period, Blooming — the natural appearance of flowers behind emotionally alive footsteps — became increasingly rare.
As fewer Flower Trails appeared across the planet, the upper soil of Big Blue slowly began turning blue.
At first, only small regions changed color. Then entire hillsides, roads, fields, and forests gradually shifted into deep shades of blue over the course of many years.
Though the soil underneath remained brown when dug, the surface of the world never fully returned to its original color.
This transformation eventually became associated with the emotional condition spreading throughout the planet itself.
The period later became known as The Bluedemic.
Historians continue debating whether the blue soil was caused by emotional change or whether the changing planet influenced emotions in return. No official scientific explanation has ever been confirmed.
Many residents of Big Blue do not describe the Bluedemic as sadness alone.
Instead, old writings often describe it as a feeling of becoming emotionally far away from oneself.
During the height of the Bluedemic, some cities reportedly went years without witnessing a single Flower Trail.
Because Blooming became so uncommon, younger generations gradually began treating it as myth rather than reality.
However, stories about unusual individuals continued appearing throughout Big Blue.
Children whose footsteps briefly caused flowers to bloom.
Travelers who unknowingly restored Blooming to quiet villages.
And eventually, a young girl named Bella, whose Flower Trails appeared far more often than most people believed possible.
For this reason, many modern historians consider Bella’s appearance to be one of the most significant emotional events following the Bluedemic.
Although the era itself has never officially ended, some residents of Big Blue quietly believe Blooming has slowly begun returning.
