Blooming — The Flower Trails of Big Blue
Blooming is the natural phenomenon in which flowers appear behind a person’s footsteps while walking across the blue soil of Big Blue.
The event is considered one of the most recognizable and emotionally significant occurrences in the Bella Story World.
When Blooming happens, flowers temporarily emerge from the surface of the planet in response to emotional states such as courage, joy, peace, wonder, love, hope, or quiet confidence. These temporary blossoms are commonly referred to as Flower Trails.
Blooming cannot be controlled intentionally.
Residents of Big Blue generally believe the phenomenon occurs naturally when a person feels emotionally alive and deeply connected to themselves, others, or the world around them.
The exact appearance of Flower Trails varies from person to person.
Some trails produce tiny white flowers, while others create drifting petals, glowing buds, soft wildflowers, or flowering vines that disappear gently after a short period of time. Historical Blooming records suggest no two Flower Trails are completely identical.
Before the Bluedemic, Blooming was considered common throughout Big Blue.
Children often left blooming paths while running through open fields. Public festivals reportedly transformed streets into temporary flower gardens overnight. Ancient records also describe dancers, travelers, and musicians whose movements caused flowers to spread across entire hillsides.
Because Blooming was once so widespread, many older communities designed roads, parks, and gathering places with Flower Trails in mind.
However, Blooming gradually became rarer during the emotional era known as The Bluedemic.
As more residents of Big Blue experienced emotional exhaustion, uncertainty, isolation, or loss of purpose, fewer Flower Trails appeared across the planet. In some regions, Blooming disappeared almost entirely for generations.
Many younger residents eventually began treating Blooming as folklore rather than reality.
Bella is widely considered unusual because Flower Trails continue appearing around her with remarkable frequency.
Even during moments of uncertainty, flowers still bloom beneath her footsteps — something many residents of Big Blue have not witnessed in years. This has led some historians and storytellers to quietly associate Bella with the possible return of Blooming across the planet.
Bun rarely creates Flower Trails intentionally. However, observers have noted occasional Blooming around him during moments of unexpected bravery or emotional sincerity.
Although Blooming is often described as magical, many residents of Big Blue do not consider it magic at all.
Instead, Blooming is widely understood as a visible reminder that emotional aliveness still exists within the world.
For this reason, Flower Trails are often regarded not as signs of perfection, but as signs that a heart is still awake.
