The Maria Linda Pearl Collection

Within the private jewelry archives of the Olañeta family, the Maria Linda Pearl Collection is remembered for its quiet elegance and unmistakable signature.

The collection consists of three South Sea pearl necklaces and two pairs of pearl earrings. Each piece carries a small diamond sugar cane emblem—a reference to the agricultural legacy that helped shape the family’s history.

The motif appears as a slender cane stalk set in diamonds with a single leaf emerging from it. The emblem is subtle yet recognizable, marking every piece in the collection as part of Maria Linda’s personal jewelry.

The Necklaces

Azúcar Dorado

Azúcar Dorado is the most frequently worn necklace in Maria Linda’s collection. The strand is composed of luminous golden South Sea pearls known for their warm champagne tone.

Specifications

  • 35 Gold South Sea pearls
  • Pearl color: Champagne gold
  • Pearl size: 11.00–13.00 mm
  • Strand length: 17.5 inches
  • Detail: Diamond sugar cane stalk and leaf emblem

The necklace rests at the collarbone in a classic princess length, making it ideal for formal gatherings and family occasions.

Azúcar Nieve

Azúcar Nieve is the white counterpart to Azúcar Dorado. The pearls possess a soft cream glow, creating a refined contrast with the golden strand.

Specifications

  • 35 White South Sea pearls
  • Pearl color: Cream white
  • Pearl size: 11.00–13.00 mm
  • Strand length: 17.5 inches
  • Detail: Diamond sugar cane stalk and leaf emblem

The piece is often associated with more traditional events and ceremonial occasions.

Azúcar Mundo

The longest necklace in the collection, Azúcar Mundo was designed to be worn as a rope-length strand.

The necklace can be worn long, doubled, or layered with the shorter strands, making it the most versatile piece in Maria Linda’s jewelry.

Specifications

  • 35 Gold South Sea pearls
  • Pearl color: Champagne gold
  • Pearl size: 11.00–13.00 mm
  • Strand length: 45 inches
  • Detail: Diamond sugar cane stalk and leaf emblem

Because of its length, Azúcar Mundo became the strand most associated with Maria Linda’s distinctive layered style.

The Earrings

The collection also includes two pairs of pearl earrings designed to complement the necklaces.

Unlike the necklaces, the earrings feature the sugar cane motif in a slightly different form.

Instead of a full stalk, each earring carries a diamond sugar cane leaf detail placed beside the pearl.

The earrings were designed to mirror the necklaces without overpowering the pearls, preserving the understated elegance that defined Maria Linda’s personal style.

A Signature of the Olañeta Family

Together, the necklaces and earrings form the Maria Linda Pearl Collection, a set that became closely associated with her presence.

The pearls themselves are remarkable, but it is the small diamond sugar cane emblem that ties the pieces together—transforming them from jewelry into family symbols.

Within the Olañeta archives, the collection remains known simply as:

“Maria Linda’s pearls.”
