Mao008 — The Meowsassin

Maomao Kwong looks like she has her priorities perfectly arranged. She goes to middle school, works on her growing presence as a fashion influencer, and comes from one of China's prominent business families.

Then the Zompocalypse happens, the sunglasses come out, and Maomao Kwong has somewhere to be. She returns dressed in sparkling combat armor under another name.

FROM CHINA TO MAOMAO COUNTRY

The Kwong family originally comes from China. They moved to Maomao Country when Maomao's father began working on an arms deal and establishing an arms-manufacturing facility there.

Mr. Kwong expected the project to keep him in Maomao Country for an extended period and wanted his family with him. Maomao consequently began living and attending school there while continuing her activities as a young fashion influencer.

The family was still in Maomao Country when the Zompocalypse began. For most middle-school students, this would have presented a fairly unusual extracurricular problem. Maomao already had training.

THE BLACK AND WHITE MEOWSASSIN ASSOCIATION

The Kwong family founded the Black and White Meowsassin Association in China. Maomao trained under the organization and became a genuine Meowsassin skilled in kung fu, marksmanship, and weapons handling.

Her secret Meowsassin identity is Mao008. The 008 designation belongs specifically to Maomao. It is not a rank or numbering system used for other members of the Association.

Outside missions, she remains Maomao Kwong. The name Mao008 appears when she puts on her combat clothing and assumes her Meowsassin identity.

THE KWONG FAMILY

Mao008's unusual combination of interests makes considerably more sense after meeting her parents. Her father is a panda whose business specializes in arms manufacturing and weapons. Her mother is a cat and fashion mogul. Maomao grew up surrounded by both industries and developed an enthusiasm for each.

She learned how to fight. She learned how to shoot. She also learned that there is absolutely no reason combat equipment cannot sparkle.

MEOWSASSIN ARMOR

Mao008 wears Chinese-inspired combat clothing designed for martial-arts movement, incorporating flowing elements into its silhouette. The garment is covered with sparkling crystal-like stones engineered as protective components.

The stones provide protection against bullets, Zommice bites, and other physical attacks while allowing Mao008 enough mobility to perform kung fu. Her weapons follow the same aesthetic. Mao008 likes sparkle, and combat equipment receives no exemption from her fashion preferences.

The result is functional protective equipment that happens to be extremely difficult to ignore.

Which brings us to Stealth Mode.

STEALTH MODE

During the Zompocalypse, Mao008 discovered something remarkable. Zommice had difficulty looking at her.

When sunlight or another strong source of light hits the protective stones covering her Meowsassin armor, the reflections can become intensely bright. Zommice may squint, turn away, cover their eyes, or temporarily lose sight of her.

Mao008 studied the evidence and reached her conclusion: she has Stealth Mode.

Her fellow survivors understand the phenomenon. Nobody corrects her. The arrangement works remarkably well.

MAOMAO AND MAO008

Maomao's public and secret lives remain separate. As Maomao Kwong, she is a middle-school student and fashion influencer known for her love of clothing and sparkle. As Mao008, she wears her Meowsassin armor, oversized sunglasses, carries her custom weapons, and approaches missions with complete seriousness.

Her training is real, and her marksmanship and martial-arts abilities make her a valuable fighter during the Zompocalypse.

The sunglasses may be doing slightly more work for her secret identity than she realizes. Mao008 remains confident.

SIGNATURE INTRODUCTION

Once Maomao assumes her secret identity, introductions become considerably easier. There is only one acceptable version:

“I am Mao008, the Meowsassin!”

Then, when the situation calls for her greatest ability:

“Stealth mode, activated.”
